Holkam:
A vast beach which regardless of the number of visitors attracted on a hot summer’s day never seems too busy. There’s a great walk both to the East (towards Wells) or to the West, taking you through the pine forest, with many a cut-through to make your way down to the sand. The car park does get busy (and is a bit pricey so take a handful of £1 coins for the meter) but it’s worth the effort. There’s no shops but a mobile van is often there selling decent coffee, snacks and ice-cream. The Victoria Hotel at the entrance to the beach drive does a great Sunday lunch.
